Irmgard Keun im Programm der Universität Princeton

German 207, Fall 1998, 12:00, 239 East Pyne Bldg.

Prof. Emery Snyder

The course offers discussions of exemplary works from the first half of the 20th century, including essays, speeches, fiction, poems, a play, art and films. These will be examined in the context of important historical events in modern Germany such as the end of the Kaiserreich, Berlin as a modern metropolis, World War I, the Weimar Republic, and the rise of National Socialism. There is also intensive practice in spoken and written German, with emphasis on stylistic nuances.
